Amazon.com A winning addition to the Sound Healing Series from Soundings of the Planet artists, Healing Dreams offers a serene showcase for two of the label's prime talents, guitarist Scott Huckabay and flautist/label co-founder Dean Evenson. The pair, accompanied at various times by cello, viola, harp, and singing bowls (played by Walter Makichen) plus occasional wordless vocals by Gina Sala, co-create inviting sound fields that gently straddle the sonic sweet spot between structure and improvisation, resulting in a peaceful wash of sound that encourages both relaxation and an elevated state of mind. You'll find in Evenson and Huckabay's work a degree of sophistication and musicality (notably apparent in Huckabay's occasional pop-rock fingerings) that separates their work from lesser musicians who merely equate simplicity with blissfulness. Highlights include the heavenly hum Evenson (on keyboards) applies to Huckabay's passages on "Dreamstate" and the delicate intricacy of Evenson's flute on "Flowers to Life." If you're a newcomer to the label, don't let the hippie-era cover art, with its butterflies-and-stardust dreaminess, sway you into thinking this disc is only for the incense and macramé crowd. It's a fine, broadly appealing choice for massage, relaxation, or late-night zoning out. --Terry Wood
Product Description Healing Dreams is an exquisite musical journey that opens the listener to the deeper places in the soul where healing can occur. Dreams are the doorway to the soul. They show us the state of our emotional and physical health. Paying attention to the messages of our dreams can help us create a fulfilling and healthy life. Healing Dreams can help the listener reach that place of inner peace. Genre pioneer and flautist Dean Evenson teams up with trance guitarist Scott Huckabay. Also contributing to the album are Dudley Evenson on harp, Jonathan Kramer on cello, and Phil Heaven on viola. This album introduces the unique tonal qualities of singing bowl master Walter Makichen.

| Customer Reviews: I love it April 5, 2010 Chatefrancaise (Columbia, SC) This is the kind of music I search for. Not all CDs touted as relaxing cause this effect. Some of them have a tempo that's too fast or high pitched sounds that are annoying. The guys making this CD seem to know exactly what works. I first heard this CD while getting a full-body massage. I recognized the quality right away. I asked the lady afterwards for the name of it. Later that day I went to Amazon.com to purchase it. It's so relaxing mentally and physically, stress just floats away. And that has to be healing. I treasure my Healing Dreams CD!
Good for massage July 14, 2009 Shiva (Ruidoso, New Mexico) All of Dean Evenson's stuff is good for massage, I like this one because it has some wordless female vocals which are very pretty, and some fun yet relaxing guitar.
Wonderful, Uplifting! April 16, 2002 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Relax in your favorite chair and let yourself be transported beyond space and time. Bliss is at hand after an hour of this blend of melodies.
The chia pet of New Age music November 12, 2001 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
If this cd was a weather system, it would be a warm front mixed with apocalyptic plagues of frogs. Need i say more? Yes? Okay: this album will rock in ways and places previously thought unrockable. That's right.
A real dream of a CD, great musicians, excellent music September 27, 2001 Guardian of the Zen Sea (Looking after the sun and surf) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
This CD brings together the New Age pioneer, flutist Dean Evenson, with the otherworldly, cosmic guitarist Scott Huckabay, who have collaborated on other releases in the "Healing Sounds Series" for Soundings of the Planet. On this CD they are joined by Gina Sala (also of Sonic Tribe), who provides wonderful, meditative vocals to complement the music of the guitar and flute. In addition, the CD includes Dudley Evenson on harp, Jonathan Kramer on cello, Phil Heaven on viola, and singing bowl master, Walter Makichen. That combination of instruments should begin to give you a feel for the type of music to expect from this CD. The theme for the music is dreams as a doorway to the subconscous, as manifestations of our own mysterious imaginations. All the music in this healing series includes the "Earth Resonance Frequency" , a sub-auditory frequency at 7.8 Hz. This frequency has been shown to promote an alpha state in the human brain conducive to relaxation. Healing Dreams starts with this alpha frequency followed by lower "theta" frequencies. Don't worry, you won't hear them, just feel them. What you will hear is the really excellent ensemble music from a talented bunch of musicians who have your best interests at heart....good stuff.
