| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Kule'a Farm's traditional kava is an all-natural soothing and calming beverage powder made from only the roots of the kava plant (no leaves, stems, or peelings); once the roots are harvested they are sun dried and ground into powder, nothing is added or taken away. Our kava is grown on the islands of Fiji, Hawaii, and Vanuatu. Packaged in resealable plastic bags. To prepare kava we recommend you place the kava powder into a strainer bag and mix with water; this is the way it is done in the Polynesian Islands of the S. Pacific today.

Kava is great! Taste icky... but it's great! August 21, 2010 Nebcrys 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was looking for a legal, natural stress reliever when I discovered kava on the internet. It seemed too good to be true. I am a recovering alcoholic and I am in the military so I am subject to drug tests at any time. Even some legal substances are illegal in the military. Kava is perfect for me, as it's non-addictive, not detectable in tests, and does not have any side affects other than slight dehydration (no more than coffee). I can even take kava on deployment with me!
This brand seems to have a great reputation around the internet. I am very happy with it, but I haven't tried any other brand to offer a comparison. I drink about 2 heaping tablespoons a day. At first I was taking 3 tablespoons, but the relaxation effects got stronger with regular use, so I cut back. I found that a regular wire strainer works faster than the recommended strainer bag while still removing most of the non-powdered bits.
I only use kava after work. I noticed that if I use it in the middle of the day or in the morning it throws off my rhythm for the day and I can't enjoy it as much. I have been using it for a week now with no ill effects. There is a strong relaxing effect for a 2-3 hour duration after I drink it, but there is also a long-term stress reducing effect that I am starting to experience daily.
Now, about the taste... Imagine scooping some thick muddy water into a cup and drinking it. That's what this kava is like. I just hold my nose and chug. I hate the taste, but I am willing to suffer 30 seconds of it for 2-3 hours of chill time and a reduction in daily stress levels.
Give this a shot if you are a high-strung person like me. I also recommend it for recovering alcoholics. It's a much safer and healthier alternative to alcohol.
Very relaxing January 17, 2010 Brandon Scott 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got this product with high expectations, so I bought the powder and the strainer bag as recommended by others. I was not disappointed, it had very subtle yet very calming and relaxing properties. It has a very unique smell and taste, but you can make it taste a whole lot better by adding some honey to the mix... sugar didn't work out so well (doesn't stay suspended in the mixture). I also fell a sleep on it and went into a lucid dreaming state which was pretty amazing and woke up feeling very refreshed. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who has some anxiety or tension they need to relieve or if you want to experience a very refreshing sleep with the possibility of lucid dreams.
Great kava, but.. September 19, 2009 Jason R. Arnold (Vancouver, WA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
it MAY give you a headache on your way down. that is, if you drink too much!
usually would give me a good, slightly drunken feel, but I could still articulate, and I didn't feel "slow" like you do on booze.
also, it feels like the anxiety is being lifted right away, and my aches and pains (from standing up all day at work) totally disappeared.
PROS: doesn't taste bad, relatively potent and effective, good packaging.
CONS: the headaches, and sometimes nausea if consumed on an empty stomach! yikes! expensive, the cheaper bag from the same exact farm may work just as well.
Kule Kava September 11, 2009 T. Parris (USA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Real quick, this is great kava and Kule'a Farm Kava Co. (KFKc.)is outstanding . The kava comes fresh, in a resealable package and is both easy to prepare and store. It's an excellent way to wind down in the evening, afternoon, or whenever. When I wanted to modify my order, KFKc was more than quick in responding back to me and helping me out, too. Just awesome!
Thanks :)
A Must Have For Stressed Mom's August 8, 2009 Tiffany Chapman (Seattle, WA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Yes, stressed Dad's and anyone on their last nerve. In the late 90's after college I had a friend that boiled the bark to make tea and I would enjoy a cup or two for fun. After three kids I "needed" it and found this powdered version a million times better.
TIP: I live far from town and didn't want to head out to buy filter bags so I cut up my flour sack kitchen towels into small 4" squares, put in a teaspoon of Kava powder and tie up with anything you have (twisty ties, clips, rubber bands) and start squeezing.
TIP for Parents: Flour sack kitchen towels are really great bibs, especially for older kids about to dig into spaghetti.
