| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Yoga instructor Barbara Benagh has practiced and taught yoga for nearly 35 years. She discovered yoga while living in England and began teaching there. She moved to Boston and opened The Yoga Studio on Beacon Hill in 1980. In addition to her local classes Barbara teaches yoga seminars throughout the US and internationally. She is a regular contributor of articles to Yoga Journal magazine. She has several audio CDs of live classes available as well as DVDs, the latest being Yoga for Beginners released by Body + Soul magazine, and Yoga for Stress Relief that includes a discussion on meditation from the Dalai Lama. Barbara was kind enough to answer some questions from Amazon.com about this unique line of yoga DVDs. How are these DVDs different from other yoga DVDs? I was drawn to working with Bodywisdommedia because they produce DVDs they are interactive. Rather than a "one size fits all" single routine that is typical of most products, these DVDs offer choice, allowing the user to customize and change their yoga practice to suit their needs. No two persons are the same so the ability to change your practice - easing shoulder tension one day and an invigorating morning wake up the next - come as close as possible to allowing you to address your individual needs at home. Not only do people have different physical needs, but they have different time constraints as well. If you have only 20 minutes, there is a practice for you but there are longer practices as well (some as long as 90 minutes) that address the total body/mind connection. The sheer number of yoga sequences offered on each of these DVDs is a first. They are incredibly comprehensive. How were you able to get the Dalai Lama involved? This project dovetailed perfectly with the Dalai Lama's message that modern stress is one of the greatest obstacles to our mental happiness and physical wellbeing. Because we are long-time sincere practitioners, having a 30-minute lecture of the Dalai Lama teaching how to meditate on the Yoga for Stress Relief DVD was a perfect fit. Bodywisdommedia also has a broader relationship with the Office of Tibet and are releasing historic lectures with "A Path to Happiness" being the first one. How will potential buyers of these DVDs know which one is right for them? The titles are very indicative of what appears on the DVD and therefore a good guide. I really enjoyed making Yoga for Stress Relief because it is incredibly relevant. We strove to make the sequences accessible to as many people as possible, whether they are a beginner or long time practitioner. Yoga for Beginners is a great, non-threatening place to get started and includes lots of sound technique developed over my 30 years as a yoga teacher. Power Yoga for Every Body is a bit more challenging taking you from the beginning level and gradually progressing to much more demanding routines.

Awesome! July 27, 2010 john This was one of the first yoga dvds I bought to start yoga! She explains everything really well and has a section for beginners! (some of the moves tho will take some practice to do lol)
Yoga July 12, 2010 SAR I have only used this once so far, but it was relaxing. The 30 minute good morning segment is great.
Stress relief with breathing and gentle stretching July 9, 2010 Nancy Loderick (Boston, MA) I love intense exercise, but I also love this DVD. I would categorize it as very gentle yoga, almost more like breath work and meditation more than yoga. This DVD is the perfect workout when I've had a very stressful day and I want to unwind. It's also my `go to' workout when I'm injured. There are 4 main categories: Beginning/Ending Your Day, Neck, Shoulder and Back Issues, Easing Your Mind, and Digestion Issues. With several routines in each category, you have over 20 workout routines.
I didn't mind the slow pace and appreciated seeing Barbara fold the blanket or get out the other props, since that meant I didn't have to rush to do the same thing before starting the next move.
Whenever I do this work out, I have a great night's sleep. There is something about Barbara's soothing voice, the beautiful beach scenery and the focus on breathing that really de-stresses me.
My two minor issues with this DVD:
**the workout times aren't accurate.
**it would be nice to have chapters, instead of all preset workouts.
These issues don't detract from my enjoyment of this DVD.
This workout is suitable for all fitness levels. It's great for stress relief.
No Flow! July 1, 2010 K. Cataldo (NY, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There is no flow at all between segments! No warm up, no deep stretch. I do yoga often and I tried this last night, my neck now hurts and I felt ZERO stress relief!
The segments are just cut and paste, which is why the "flow" is disjointed. I wish I paid more attention to the negative review. This is NOTHING like real yoga! It's just breathing and holding poses.
I'm stressed out I wasted money on a worthless DVD!
Backpain Relief June 25, 2010 Cindy I had hurt my back awhile ago and nothing really helped with the pain much. I tried some regular physio, and it helped a little bit, but then I was told to try some yoga and this DVD since it helped my friend with her headaches.
So I gave it a chance now for about two months and it has been a godsend. The yoga is gentle and well presented by the instructor and has helped to loosen up the tension I had in my back which seemed to be the main source of why I hurt. The routines are well done and flow well with the sections of poses that move from one to the next and gently warm you up as you progress.
I have used some of the other sections now, particularly the ones for energy, and they are very good also.
My thanks go to the teacher for what she has done on this...
