Remember, tension and stress may lead to pain, more tension, more stress and more pain... ad nauseum. I am a massage therapist and work in a Massage Therapy certification school. We have had this book in our library for over six years and the poor thing is falling apart with use. It's not the best anatomy book, nor is it the best massage therapy book. But it is a great owner's manual for the human body. I have heard great reviews from borrowers aged 18 to 72 - atheletes, dancers, clients and practitioners. Even though a portion of the book is devoted to massage techniques, there is a great deal of self-help and preventative information. I don't agree with every paragraph in the book, and you always want to check with a specialist before starting new exercises, but if this book was handed out by more HR offices and HMO's, I'd see a lot less of my clients (happily).
